Poseidon (2006)

I guess I thought there would be more to this movie than there was. Poseidon is a remake of The Poseidon Adventure (1972) and stars Josh Lucas and Kurt Russell. I was also glad to see Richard Dreyfuss here as well. Now, if you’ve ever seen the original movie, than you probably know what this movie is all about . . . running from water . . . lots and lots of water. I’ve seen this before and I’ll probably see it again. The characters are all on a boat together, it flips, and they’re going down. Then a group of people, from all different walks of life, band togother to fight their way out. Sound familiar? It’s the same here, although I was hoping it wouldn’t be. There isn’t a whole lot to this movie, and if there’s any Kurt Russell fans who think this might be a good place for him to shine, don’t bother. Josh Lucas is the focus here. I was not too highly impressed with this movie, just standard Hollywood stuff, nothing exciting or overly interesting. I would watch it again if there was nothing else to do, but only if there was nothing else on television.
